Margaret Lamb

Margaret Marie Akers Lamb, departed this world at the age of 91 on December 31, 2025, in Collinwood, TN. She was born on September 4, 1934, in Irvine, KY, to the late Edward and Ellen Taylor Akers.

On December 24, 1954, Margaret joined her life with that of Shannon Lamb, with whom she shared a profound and enduring love until his passing on September 25, 2021. Together, they created a beautiful family and cherished a lifetime of memories.

Margaret dedicated many years of her career to E. B. Malone Mattress Company in Lake Wales, FL, where she left a mark through her hard work and dedication. Her spirit of community was evident in her active participation in her churches, first at Westside Baptist Church for 20 wonderful years, and then for 40 years at Houston Baptist Church, where she found great joy and fellowship.

An avid gardener, Margaret found peace and happiness in nurturing both flowers and vegetables. She took great pride in canning the fruits of her labor, sharing the bounty with those she loved. In her leisure, she delighted in sewing and quilting, creating treasured pieces that will be cherished for generations.

Margaret leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and dedication to family and faith. She will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by those whose lives she touched. May her memory continue to bloom in the hearts of all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Shannon Edward Lamb of Murphy, NC; daughters, Ellen Marie Lamb Dunaway of Haines City, FL, and Shandra Kay Lamb of Collinwood, TN; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her brothers, James Akers, David Akers, Herschel Akers, and Gordon Akers; and sisters, Virginia Dunaway, Francis Crowe, and Elizabeth Large.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm service time at the Houston Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Houston Baptist Church with John Scoggin officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hebron Cemetery.
