Margaret Puckett, 97, of Germantown, formerly of Bolivar, departed this life Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at Methodist-LeBonheur in Germantown.
The widow of Lucien E. "Bud" Puckett, who passed away on May 31, 2015 after 67 years of marriage, she was first and foremost a homemaker, who enjoyed taking care of her family and friends and loved to cook. She was born Sunday, February 4, 1923 in Birmingham, Alabama, daughter of the late Clifton Sylvester Price and Mildred Taliferro Clark Price and lived throughout the country supporting her husband's career in the US Navy. They settled in Hardeman County in 1970 and had lived in Germantown for the past few years. She received her degree in English from Samford University in Alabama and worked for the Social Security Administration, a job she dearly loved, and also was a flight attendant for Capital Airlines. Among her hobbies, she was known as an avid golfer and enjoyed playing bridge. Her family describes her as a 'warm and caring mom'. Mrs. Puckett was a communicant at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bolivar.
Services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bolivar. DUE TO CURRENT HEALTH CONCERNS, the service is limited to relatives. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar are in charge of professional arrangements.
Survivors include a son, Mark Puckett (Tina Matthews) of Germantown; two grandchildren, Angela Puckett Smith (Bill) and David Edward Puckett; and 3 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Raymond, Jake and Jack Price and 4 sisters, Bonnie Golden, Toots Tryon, Sue Moore and Ruby Ballard. Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bolivar.
