Margie Jane Moore, born on April 15, 1934, in McNairy County, TN, was a beloved daughter of the late Hugh and Bertha Lee Goodrum Sanders. As the oldest of ten siblings, she embraced the role of a nurturer from a young age, fostering strong bonds throughout her life.
On September 23, 1950, Margie united in marriage with George Thomas Moore, beginning a beautiful partnership that lasted nearly six decades. Their love, steadfast and unwavering, remained a guiding light until Mr. Moore’s passing on November 1, 2009.
A member of Trinity Baptist Church in Bolivar, TN, Margie poured her heart into everything she did. She enjoyed a fulfilling career at Brown Shoe Company in Selmer, TN, retiring with memories and friendships. Margie's hobbies were a testament to her warm personality; a passionate collector of dolls and impression glass, she found joy in the beauty of small things. Her culinary skills were legendary, particularly her famous chicken-n-dumplings and delicious made-from-scratch chocolate cake, which brought comfort and joy to family gatherings. Furthermore, her love for raising flowers added vibrant colors to her surroundings.
Mrs. Moore departed this life on September 17, 2025, in Bolivar, Tennessee, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of love at the age of 91 years, 5 months, and 2 days. She is survived by her three sons, Johnny Moore and wife Jo of Hornsby, TN; James Ray Moore and wife Cathy of Moore, OK; and Ricky Moore and wife Amber of Hornsby, TN; her five daughters—Mary Jane Cox and husband Raymond, Betty Ann Crouse and husband Roy, Linda Sue Crouse, Brenda Grantham and husband Darrell, and Karen Hopkins—all from Hornsby, TN—carry forward her spirit every day. She will also be remembered fondly by her 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by two brothers, Jessie Sanders and wife Alline of Henderson, TN, and Jimmy Dale Sanders and wife Jennie of Dover, TN; as well as four loving sisters, Oma Honey of Hornsby, TN, Jo Ann Glidewell of Gladstone, MO, Lorene Cossar and husband Charles of Bolivar, TN, and Betty Foster and husband Ike of Hornsby, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, a beloved grandson, Mark Moore, and sons-in-law, Dale Crouse and Tony Hopkins, along with three brothers, Robert, James, and Jerry Wayne Sanders.
Mrs. Moore's life, filled with love, laughter, and warmth, will forever echo in the hearts of those she cherished. She has left an indelible mark that will be celebrated and remembered for generations to come.
