Annie Marie Price Carroll, age 99, passed away at home on May 6, 2022. Marie was born in McNairy County, Tennessee on October 8, 1922. She was the first of six children to parents, Jewel and John Price. She grew up in Michie, Tennessee and graduated from Michie High School, where she enjoyed playing basketball. She married Hershel Carroll on September 1, 1941.
Marie was a devoted wife and mother to her three children. With her love and generosity, she created a home that made everyone feel welcome. She loved having a porch full of beautiful flowers and was a wonderful cook. Her family felt her love in every bite of the delicious meals she prepared. Although many family members have tried, no one has quite been able to master her recipes like she did. She also enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren who knew her as "Mamaw", playing rook and dominos with friends, supporting her grandchildren at programs and ballgames, and attending Center Hill Baptist Church.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, Hershel Carroll; her parents, Jewel and John Price; and her siblings, J.D. Price, Harris Gene Price, Jimmy Price, John Wayne Price, and Peggy George.
Marie is survived by her son, Larry Carroll (Marty); daughter, Ann Carroll; son, Frank Carroll (Judy); six grandchildren, Bart Carroll, Bret Carroll (Allie), David Carroll (Anna), Sarah Ann Ellis (David), Ben Carroll (Becca), and Jon-David Johnson (Brenda); and eight great grandchildren, Everett Carroll, Zoie Johnson, Adeline Ellis, Walker Carroll, Isaac Ellis, Rose Marie Carroll, Lucy Carroll, and Jules Carroll.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
Marie's family would like to thank her caregivers and nurses, who have provided her with excellent care for the past two years.
Celebrating Marie's life on Mother's Day is only fitting as she devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. They will miss her greatly and plan to carry on her legacy with family gatherings, homecooked meals, and loving one another well.
