Marie Maness Sanders was born on January 4, 1930, in Bethel Springs, TN, the daughter of the late Shady and Anis Moore Maness.
Marie spent more than 40 years serving the Selmer community as a waitress. She first worked at The Clock Restaurant and later at the Dixie Café and Truck Stop. She was known for her love of conversation, her quick wit, and her unmistakable sense of humor. Marie had a gift for delivering the perfect sarcastic response, and her customers adored her personalized service and the laughter she brought into their day.
She enjoyed playing bingo and working puzzles, going for long walks, and taking trips to Tunica. Above all, she loved people—talking with them, laughing with them, and making everyone feel a little lighter.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Susie Teresin of Huntsville, AL; her daughter-in-law, Lynn Sanders Burcham of Middleton, TN; four grandchildren, Stephanie Vincent of Owens Cross Roads, AL, Megan Teresin and wife Gabi of Owens Cross Roads, AL, Chase Sanders of Middleton, TN, and Lynn Combs and wife Mary Jo of Selmer, TN; and her brother, Buel “Snookum” Maness of Jacks Creek, TN.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Ricky Sanders and Oneal Sanders; two grandchildren, Eric Sanders and Troy Oneal Sanders Jr.; two brothers, Archie Maness and Ralph Maness; and two sisters, Jean Ferguson and Oma Dell Maness. Marie leaves behind a multitude of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews whom she loved dearly.
