Marilyn Worden Smith
JACKSON,TN: Marilyn Earnestine Worden Smith, age 71, died Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Jackson General Hospital.
Mrs. Smith was born and reared in Clarendon, AR, the daughter of the late Earnest and Bertie Castleberry Worden. She graduated high school in Clarendon and in 1967 married James M. “Jim†Smith.
While living in Lafayette, LA she worked for KATC Channel 3 television and while living in Memphis she was executive secretary to the president of the Downtowner Hotel Corporation. They made their home in Jackson the past 22 years and she work with her husband Jim as he was Director of Food Services at Lambuth University. She had also worked at Jackson Insurance Agency and for the past 12 years as office manager for Hall Insurance Agency.
She is survived by two sons; Brian and Kevin Smith both of Jackson, a brother Bruce Worden of Memphis and a sister Frances Clark of Searcy, AR. She was preceded in death by a brother Jerry Worden and her husband Jim Smith in 2006.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Ricky Tedford officiating and burial will follow at Sweetlips Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel beginning at 5:00 PM Monday.
