Marilyn June Ward

February 17, 1931 — October 25, 2018

Marilyn June Ward was born February 17, 1931 in McNairy County, TN the daughter of the late Tommy and Mary Josie Humphries Sanders. She was the eighth of nine children.

She was united in marriage to William Floyd Ward on October 25, 1952. Mr. Ward preceded her in death on October 19, 2008. They were married for 56 years and were a fine example of a loving Christian couple. Together, they left a legacy of faith, family, love and laughter.

She was a longtime member of the Mount Sharon Presbyterian Church in the Gilchrist Community of McNairy County. She loved the Lord and it showed through her caring and loving ways to her family and community. She had the most beautiful Alto voice. She sang with the Gilchrist Quartet and Roses of Sharon. She collected angels, enjoyed playing bingo and always wanted her jewelry on.

She was an amazing cook and loved for people to gather around her table. Some of her best dishes were fried chicken, fresh coconut cake, garden fresh vegetables, hand scraped cream style corn, and hot from the oven cornbread. Every dish was prepared with love and joy.

Mrs. Ward was a wonderful mother and loved her pretty girls, June and Vickie. She became "Hi-Doll" when her oldest grandchild, Misty was born.
Being a Hi-Doll brought much laughter, wonderful memories and endless love. Everyone who knew her called her Hi-Doll.

Mrs. Ward entered into her heavenly home on October 25, 2018 in Corinth, Mississippi at the age of 87 Years, 8 Months, 8 Days. She is survived by
two daughters, June Prather and husband Tommy of Adamsville, TN, Vickie Grantham and husband Jackie of Hornsby, TN; three grandchildren, Misty Howell and husband Kevin, Scott Grantham, and Nicole Grantham; three great grandchildren, Mary Madelyn, Maggie May, and Millie MariLynn; and a host of nieces,nephews and extended family.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by two sisters, Claira Wagoner, Dorothy Robinson; six brothers, Sonny, Roscoe, George, Shelby, Eugene, and Nelson Sanders.
