Marion Edgar McGarity was born on February 27, 1932 in Hardin County, TN, the son of the late Ruel Edgar and Myrtle Esther Carlyle McGarity. On December 16, 1950, he was united in marriage to Willie Kay Davis, who survives.
Prior to moving to Morris Chapel in 1983, Mr. McGarity had resided in St. Louis, Missouri from 1953-1983. He was employed by Fisher Body/General Motors as an electrician until his retirement. He was a Mason and a member of Living Word Fellowship Church in Savannah, TN. He was also a member of the NRA and the United Autoworkers Union.
Marion loved his family very much. He also loved to garden and play his fiddle.
Mr. McGarity departed this life on June 8, 2015 at the age of 83 years, 3 months, 12 days.
He is survived by his wife, Willie Kay McGarity of Morris Chapel, Tennessee; 2 sons, Dennis Eugene McGarity, and his wife Rhonda, and Randy Edgar McGarity, and his wife Penny, all of Morris Chapel, Tennessee; 3 siblings, Joy Brewer of St. Louis, Missouri, Ruel McGarity, Jr. of Morris Chapel, Tennessee, and Fred McGarity of Cahokia, Illinois; 4 grandchildren, Heather McGarity, Rachael West and her husband Rodney West, Denny McGarity, and Randy McGarity Jr.; and 5 great-grandchildren, Addisson Young, Dathan Young, Holly Young, Erin Kate West, and Aleena West.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Larry Wayne McGarity; sister, Ruby Siaus; and brother Harvy Dean McGarity.
