MARLENE “MARTY” MOORE WILKINS

Henderson, TN: Marlene Virginia Moore Wilkins, age 87, passed away Thursday April 9, 2026, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

She was born on March 19, 1939, in McNairy County at Finger, and grew up in Selmer, the daughter of the late Marlie B. and Ollie Mable Massengill Moore. She graduated from Selmer High School in 1957 and married Virgil Wilkins in 1959.

Virgil and Marty made their home in Memphis where she worked at Personal Loan and Finance, Equifax and later Memphis City Schools as a secretary, retiring in 2000. After retirement, they moved their lives to Henderson, making it their home.

Marty loved her family and having them all together, she also loved her church family as First Baptist in Henderson, TN.

She enjoyed quilting and was involved with “The Stitchers”, a quilting group at her church.

She is survived by two sons, Jeff Wilkins (Dana) of Decaturville, TN and Greg Wilkins of Memphis, TN; two grandchildren, Jacob Wilkins (Jenni) and Marley Wilkins (Roman) as well as two great grandchildren, Ella Rose and Danni Rae.

Marty was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Ray Wilkins in 2020 and two brothers, Malcom and Ward Moore.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Wednesday April 15, 2026, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Bro. Sam Gilbreath officiating. Burial will follow at Chester County Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue on Wednesday from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM service time.
