MARNA JANE MORRIS
Jackson, TN: Marna Jane Queen Morris, age 82, passed away Thursday evening May 25, 2017 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born November 8, 1934 in Bethany, IL the daughter of the late Kenneth Keaton and Gladys Sickafus Queen. She graduated from Bethany High School and attended Bethel College at McKenzie and married Jimmy Talley Morris in 1957. They lived most of their married life in Jackson where Mr. Morris served in the Madison County School System as principal at Beech Bluff Elementary School and Mrs. Morris worked at Hartford Insurance Company and later at General Adjustment Bureau as secretary and office manager retiring from there.
She was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was very active until her health began to fail. She had served as the organist and sang in the choir.
Mrs. Morris is survived by a daughter, Tamara Jane Gulley and husband Mac of Memphis and a son, James Kenneth Morris and wife Janice of Jackson; a grandson, Thomas Stanton Morris and a great granddaughter, Hannah Alexis Morris.
Important caregivers in her life were, Alta J. Marshall, Rose McLemore and Mary Green.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jimmy Talley Morris, August 2016; a son, Thomas Michael Morris, August 1984; a grandson, Jason Brian Morris; a brother, Paul Keaton Queen and two sisters, Janice Dinwiddie and Barbara Queen.
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Oak Grove Cemetery with Pastor Terry Hunley officiating.
Memorials may be made to the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1730 Hwy 45 By-Pass, Jackson, TN 38305 or The Cumberland Presbyterian Children’s Home in Denton, Texas.
