MARTHA CASEY



Henderson: Martha Belle Reid Casey, age 83, died Sunday morning, August 16, 2009 at Oak Ridge, Tennessee.



Mrs. Casey was born and raised in Henderson, the daughter of the late Gordon Eli and Archie Belle Williams Reid. She was the valedictorian of the Chester County High School class of 1943. She completed an Associates of Arts degree at Freed-Hardeman College.



She had been a faithful member of the Henderson Church of Christ since childhood.



Mrs. Casey was a member of the Pentagon Club, Ingleside Club, various bridge clubs, and was very active in the Daughters of the American Revolution.



She had worked at the Milan Munitions Plant following high school to earn funds to continue her education at Freed-Hardeman College. She held other employment positions with the State Department of Welfare, Freed-Hardeman College, Henderson Office Supply, and had worked as a licensed funeral director with her husband, Fentress, as they owned and operated Casey Funeral Home for over 50 years.



Martha was a gracious southern lady and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.



She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert Fentress Casey; two sons, Dr. Robert Reid Casey and wife Kathy, and Jeffrey Allan Casey and wife Marthanne, all of Oak Ridge. She has four grandchildren, Katy Casey McCall and husband Andy, Reid Casey and wife Tara, all of Atlanta; and Jay and Will Casey of Oak Ridge. She is also survived by a sister, Sarah McMinn and husband Travis of Huntsville.



She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Mary Emma Vernon Smith.
