Martha Jean Cathey

She was born and reared in Columbus, MS the daughter of the late Edwin Oliver and Grace Swearengen Sykes. After graduating high school she attended the University of Memphis and then graduated Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. She was married to Don Cathey in Sept. 1962. They made their home in Memphis. Mrs. Cathey was a registered occupational nurse with Arcadia Chemical Company, Chromium Mining Company and then Family Dollar Distribution Center in West Memphis, AR. She was a member of the Broadmore Baptist Church in Memphis. She was a member of the National Health Occupation Association.



She is survived by her husband Donald Lynn ‘Don’ Cathey, Sr. of Henderson; two sons Donald ‘Don’ Cathey, Jr. and wife Angie of Henderson and Michael Cathey and wife Nancy of Pensacola, FL; three grandchildren and one great grandchild; a sister Carolyn Bonomi of Memphis and a brother Eddie Sykes of Orlando, FL.
