Martha ‘Marthie’ Crowe
Jacks Creek: Martha Jo Middleton Crowe, age 71 passed away Saturday March 29, 2014 at her home.
She was born November 20, 1942 in Madison County, the Beech Bluff area, the daughter of the late Herman Lee Dale ‘Pete’ Middleton and Mallie Mae Pollock. She married Jerry Thomas Crowe, December 30, 1961. They made their home in Madison County, the Rocky Springs Community and at Bemis. They moved to Jacks Creek in 1969 where they were in the Bar-B-Que business with Mr. Crowe’s father Van Crowe and successor owners and operators. She had also worked at Milan Arsenal and Bemis Mill. Mr. Crowe died in 2001. She worked at Smitty’s Grocery at Jacks Creek, Chow Wagon in Henderson and had recently retired from Food Giant in South Jackson after working there over ten years.
She was a member of the Jacks Creek Church of Christ for many years and had been active at the Plainview Church of Christ since her retirement.
She is survived by a son, Jerry Lynn Crowe of Jackson; a brother, Jackie Pollock of Marmaduke, AR and other siblings, J. D. Middleton, Jackie Middleton, Brenda Kay Brown, Phylis Ross, and Linda Middleton all of Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jerry Thomas Crowe in 2001 and a son, Thomas Joe (Tommy) Crowe in 1996.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with burial in Unity Cemetery in Chester County.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel beginning at 5:00 PM on Friday.
