Martha Hissong

Martha Hissong was born November 16, 1939 in McNairy County, Tennessee the daughter of the late Horace Leonard and Wilma Lee Surratt Smith.She was united in marriage to Jerry Hissong on August 9, 1990.Mrs. Hissong was a graduate of Adamsville High School. She was the owner of Martha's Greenhouse in Adamsville, and loved working with plants. She also enjoyed fishing in her leisure time. Mrs. Hissong was a member of the Hickory Flatt Methodist Church. Mrs. Hissong departed this life on May 20, 2011 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 71 Years, 6 Months, 4 Days. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Jerry Hissong of Adamsville, TN; a daughter, Marsha Rains of Savannah, TN; two step-daughters, Karen (Hissong) Foster and husband Steve of Memphis, TN and Jennifer (Hissong) Dickerson and husband Tim of Smithville, MS; a step-son, Tim Hissong of Memphis, TN; four step-grandchildren: Katrina Dickerson of Smithville, MS, Micah Hissong of Byhalia, MS, Makaela Dickerson of Smithville, MS, Avery Foster of Memphis, TN; three sisters: Bobbie Ruth Felts and Shirley Smith, both of Florence, AL, Sandra Wallace of Savannah, TN; a brother, Johnny Smith of Adamsville, TN; her beloved canine companion Sweetie; and many extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hissong was preceded in death by two sisters, Lilah Crotts and Patsy Tyler; and a brother, Jerry Smith.
