Martha Jane Epley Smith, 84, of Clifton, Tennessee passed away peacefully at her home on May 15, 2014. She was born July 7, 1929 in Miston, TN to the late Charles Epley and Sally Ann Epley. She married Walter Brown Smith on September 18, 1944 who survives.
Martha Jane was a long time resident of Clifton, Tennessee. She worked at Hickory Hills Garment Factory for over forty years and after her retirement was part of the Foster Grandparent Program at Frank Hughes School for numerous years. She was also a member of the Clifton Order of Eastern Star for 53 years.
She loved to be involved in activities at the Riverside United Methodist Church to which she was a charter member. She will be remembered for her Christian life, love of family, and joyful outlook.
In addition to her husband, Walter Brown Smith of Clifton, Tennessee, she is survived by daughters, Pamela Bridges and Phyllis Downey of Clifton, Tennessee. Also, grandsons, Patrick Blackburn of Clifton, Tennessee and Jason Blackburn of New Albany, Mississippi, seven great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Walter David Smith and sisters, Gladys Robinson and Elizabeth Curtis.

Services will be Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Riverside United Methodist Church in Clifton, Tennessee, with Josh Layne and Robert Sadler officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Methodist Church Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers are Patrick Blackburn, Jason Blackburn, Cameron Blackburn, Walter Smith, Elijah Smith, and Coty Smith.
