Martin Hay Butler was born on June 15, 1941 in Wayne County, Tennessee, the son of the late Henry Arthur and Clarice Lucille Daniel Butler.
On October 25, 1969, he was united in marriage to Stella Elizabeth Kyle, who survives.
Mr. Butler honorably served his country in the United States Army, where he received the National Defense Service Medal. He later worked as a truck driver for Dana Corporation. Martin loved riding his motorcycle. Though he had may hobbies throughout the years, his passion was on the back of his bike. In his younger years, he was an avid hunter and was very knowledgeable about guns and ammunition.
Martin Hay Butler departed this life on October 30, 2025 in Decatur County, Tennessee, at the age of 84 years, 4 months, and 15 days.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Stella Elizabeth Butler of Linden, Tennessee; daughters, Mary Butler Erskin of Scotts Hill, Tennessee, Patty Butler Brown of Savannah, Tennessee, and Stephanie Butler Hillery of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Mark Butler, Michael Butler, Jayla Eaves, Jerika Erskin, Scottie Brown, Ashley Brown, Karlin Edwards, and Kendahl Edwards; and 15 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Martin was preceded in death by his son, Martin Arthur Butler and half sisters, Susie Mae Lawson and Mary Kathleen Lawson.
