Martin Lewis Walters

Martin Lewis (Moose) Walters of Collinwood, TN was born March 6, 1948 in Collinwood, Tennessee, the son of the late William (Bill) Edward and Geraldine (Dean) Martin Walters. He was united in marriage to Donna Carol Swindle on July 8, 1995 and she preceded him in death on August 26, 2008.



Mr. Walters was a disabled Packer/Receiver with Praxis-LLC in Savannah, TN. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War where he was wounded in a mortar attack while stationed at Long Binh, South Vietnam in May, 1968. At that time, he was medically evacuated from Vietnam after which he returned to civilian life as a resident in Collinwood.



Mr. Walters departed this life on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee at the age of 62 Years, 5 Months, 15 Days after a sudden illness.



He is survived by two brothers, Charles Walters and wife, Misako of Tehachapi, CA and William (Billy) Walters of Knoxville, TN; brother-in-law, Otha (Toot) Smith; nephew, Bryan Smith and wife, Ann, and their daughters, Ashley and Amanda; and niece, Malinda Walters.



In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Walters was preceded in death by a sister, Joe Anne Martin Smith.



A graveside service with military rites will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at McGlamery Cemetery in Collinwood, Tennessee with David Smith officiating and Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County directing. Pallbearers will be Mike Tyron, Dustin Smith, Stan Smith, Fred Grolick, David Smith, Jr., Darrell Ericson. Honorary pallbearer will be Joey Brown.
