Mary Estes Akeswas born in Tennessee on April 10, 1925 the daughter of the late Laurence Bradford Estes, Jr. and Lidy Kate King Estes.Ms. Akes was a bookkeeper for Napa Motor Parts before retiring.Ms. Akes departed this life on Monday, January 19, 2009 at the age of 83 years, 9 months, 9 days.Ms. Akes is survived by a daughter, Amy Kay Simmons of Savannah, Tennessee; a sister; 3 grandchildren, Deana Marie Schneider, Ricky Brennon Simmons, Jr., and Mary Katrina (Katie); 2 great-grandchildren, Justin Cole Schneider and Jacob Lee Schneider.In addition to her parents, Ms. Akes was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Earl Alton Akes, Sr.; a son, Earl Alton Akes, Jr.; 3 brothers, Laurence Bradford Estes, Jr., Warner Moore Estes, and Thomas Bradford Estes.
