Mary Ann Kelley, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on September 19, 2024, in her hometown of Bolivar, Tennessee, just days shy of her 75th birthday. Born on September 23, 1949, Mary was a cherished member of her community, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Mary Ann devoted herself to her family and community. She worked as an assembler at Kilgore for nearly two decades, and her earlier years were spent at Garner Automotive in Whiteville, and at Masterslack and HIS before their closures. Beyond her career, she was a steadfast homemaker, always ensuring her family was well-cared for and surrounded by love. Mary Ann had an extraordinary talent for cooking, often preparing delicious meals for family gatherings, a testament to her nurturing spirit.
Mary Ann's passion for family shone brightest in her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She adored following her great-grandchildren, Allen and Layne Ferge, Kaitlynn Kelley, Olivia, Bailey and Hunter Hooper, Gracyn and Tegan Kelley, as they ventured into their various activities and endeavors. She never missed an opportunity to check in on her family, and her phone calls were a lifeline of connection and love.
An active member of the community, Mary Ann attended Whiteville First Baptist Church and was a dedicated member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church. Her faith and commitment to her church family provided her with strength and a sense of belonging throughout her life. In addition to her spiritual engagements, she enjoyed line dancing, often lighting up the floor with her vibrant spirit and infectious joy.
Mary Ann leaves behind a loving family who will miss her dearly. Her daughter, Rita Ann Hooper and son-in-law Larry of Jackson, along with her grandchildren, Chris Kelley and Raven, Nick Kelley and Toni, Robert Hooper and Taylor, Becky Hooper and Stephen, and Rachel Hooper, carry forward her legacy of love. The bond she shared with her great-grandchildren will forever be treasured in their hearts.
She is reunited in eternal peace with those she loved who have passed before her: her devoted husband, Roy Lamar Kelley, whom she married on November 12, 1966, her son, Scott Kelley, her brother, James Larry Ray, and her parents, James Warren Ray and Georgia Estella Howell Ray. Together, they await her in the embrace of everlasting love.
While Mary Ann Kelley will be tremendously missed, her unwavering love, infectious laughter, and passionate spirit will forever resonate through the lives she touched. She remains a beacon of light in the memories cherished by her family and friends. Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to the charity of the donor's choice.
