MARY ALICE AUTRY
Bethel Springs, TN: Mary Alice Mitchell Autry, age 95 passed away December 1, 2020 at her home.
She was born April 18, 1925 in Chester County, the daughter of the late John Edgar ‘Ed’ and Mary Elizabeth Henson Mitchell. She attended school at Masseyville. She was married to Milton L. Autry in 1947. They made their home in the Masseyville Community on the old Mitchell farm in Chester County. She worked at Salant & Salant Mfg. for twenty-two years as an inspector and press operator, until the plant closed and she began working at Chester County Nursing Home and worked there for five years before retiring. She was a long time member of the Mitchell Chapel Baptist Church.
She loved cooking, quilting, gardening and enjoyed working outside.
Mrs. Autry is survived by a son, Jerry Autry and wife Billie of Bethel Springs; a daughter, Martha Autry of Bethel Springs; a grandson, Mitch Autry and wife Angela of Henderson and a great grandson, Colton Autry and wife Kaela of Henderson; a sister-in-law, Joy Mitchell of Bethel Springs; two nieces and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Gene Allen Autry; a brother, Frank Mitchell; a sister, Shirley Hunt and brother-in-law, Carl Hunt.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Bro. Glenn Harris and Bro. Jared Walters officiating. Burial will follow in Cave Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue beginning at 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM service time on Thursday.
