Henderson, TN: Mary Juanita Hendrix Benson, age 85 passed away February 18, 2018 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born July 22, 1932 in Camden, TN and raised in Bruceton, TN the daughter of the late Joyce Hendrix and Ruby Lee Pruett Hendrix. She went to school in Bruceton and graduated in 1950. She married Billy Wayne Benson in 1952 of Lizard Lick. They lived in Henderson, moved to Greenville, NC and later to Albany, GA and then moved back to Henderson in 1977 where they made their home up until now. She was a nurse for Dr. King delivering babies. She made cakes and pies and sold them as well. She was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ.
Mrs. Benson is survived by her husband, Billy Wayne Benson of Henderson; a grandson, Robert Wayne Benson and wife Mandi of Bartlett, TN; two brothers, Weldon Hendrix of Henderson and Paul Hendrix of NC; a sister, Augustine Cheatham and husband Carl of AL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Ronnie Benson in 1980 and Ralph Benson in 1988 and two sisters, Evelyn Conner and Helen Sargent.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Main Street with Carl Cheatham officiating. Burial will follow in Unity Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Main Street Chapel beginning at 9:00 AM Saturday until service time at 11:00 AM.
