Mary Belle Carpenter of Selmer was born on September 1, 1918, to Ernest and Sarah Ada Tedford. She was united in marriage to Albin T. Carpenter who preceded her in death on February 11, 1988. She was a member of Lanes Chapel Church in Finger, Tennessee, and attended Lakeview Baptist Church in Selmer. Mrs. Carpenter was a retired Cook at McNairy Central High School Cafeteria and previously had worked in Cafeterias at Selmer Elementary School and a local nursing home. She passed from this life on Sunday, July 5, 2009, in Selmer at the age of 90 years, 10 months, and 4 days.Survivors are her daughter Sarah Taylor and her husband Tom of Selmer; one son, Timmy Wayne Carpenter, also of Selmer; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.A host of other relatives and friends.Other than her husband and parents, Mrs. Carpenter was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Johnson; a son, Jimmy Carpenter; three sisters and a brother, Alene Greene, Jewell Young, Pearl Vires, and Earl Tedford.
