Mary Joyce Farmer Clarke was born on July 27, 1933 in Trenton, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Hugh Nelson and Cora Ida Griggs Farmer. On April 8, 1951, she was united in marriage to R.C. Clarke, Jr., who preceded his wife in death on June 5, 1992.
Ms. Clarke was raised in Trenton; however spent most of her adult life in Savannah, Tennessee. Her last few years were spent in Heber Springs, Arkansas. She was employed as a secretary for Clarke Insurance Agency and as a substitute teacher for the Hardin County Board of Education. Mary Joyce was a member of First Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee and enjoyed arts and crafts, quilting, and knitting.
She departed this life on December 23, 2015 at the age of 82 years, 4 months, 26 days.
Mary Joyce Clarke is survived by her children, Nancy Wolfe, and her husband James B., Jr., of Heber Springs, Arkansas and Jerry Clarke, and his wife Susan, of Savannah, Tennessee; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Wolfe, Nicklaus Wolfe, Emily Dunbar, and her husband Dustin, and Joshua Clarke, and his wife Courtney; and 8 great-grandchildren, Bridget Murphy, Brooke Murphy, Ben Murphy, Owen Dunbar, Isaac Dunbar, Ethan Dunbar, Olivia Clarke, and Judah Clarke.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Clarke; 2 brothers, Edwin Farmer and Billy Farmer; and 4 sisters, Elizabeth Flowers, Bessie Hughes, Lucille Hughes, and Alice Fletcher.
