Mary K. Cole

Mary K. Cole was born on March 5, 1926 in the Hardin's Creek area, the daughter of the late Robert L. and Mary A. Doyle Christian. On October 25, 1946, she was united in marriage to Claude E. Cole. Mr. Cole preceded his wife in death on July 13, 2008.

Mrs. Cole was a member of First Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee where she served as a Sunday School teacher and worked in the Bible School in her younger years. She was a secretary for Brown Shoe Company prior to being hired as the first secretary at Tennessee River Pulp and Paper, now known as Packaging Corporation of America. The employees she interviewed were always special to her and she referred to them as "her boys". After 22 years, she retired and opened a frame shop in her home with her husband and son. Her life was devoted to the love and care of her son. God gave them a special gift of being able to communicate even though he was unable to talk.

Mary Cole departed this life on August 24, 2016 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 90 years, 5 months, 19 days.

She is survived by her son, Steven E. Cole of Savannah, Tennessee; sister, Frances Davis of Savannah, Tennessee; 6 nephews and 1 niece whom she called her children, Bob, Blake, Barry, and Bruce Winborn of Savannah, Tennessee, Kevin and Robert Davis of Savannah, Tennessee, and Marianna D. Nichols of Adamsville, Tennessee; and a host of great and great great nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Gladys C. Winborn.
