Mary Catherine Hancock Mathis was born October 5, 1935 in Pasadena, TX, the daughter of the late Frank Charles Hancock and Bonnie Wilma Boase Hancock. She departed this life on April 16, 2024 in Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 88 Years, 6 Months, 11 Days.
Mary was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Wolf Pen and a member of the Eastern Star Selmer Chapter. She was a hard working lady which was evident in her commitment to caring for her loved ones and tending to the farm. She enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, painting, quilting and crocheting.
She is survived by companion, Leonard Escue of Bartlett, TN and his children: Wanda, Tim and Rick; daughter, Cynthia Ann Jordon Flake and husband Larry of Pocahontas, TN; son, Troy Eugene Mathis Jr. and wife Angela of Wolf Pen, TN; two stepsons, James Ellis Mathis, Ronnie Eugene Mathis both of Pocahontas, TN; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mathis was preceded in death by husband, Virgil Lester Jordon Sr.; husband, Troy Eugene Mathis Sr.; two sons, Virgil Lester Jordan, Victor LeRoy Jordan; two sisters, Jimmie Ruth Anderson, Barbara Ann Farque; five brothers: Frank Charles Hancock II, Jack Rodney Hancock, Cecil Wayne Hancock, Earl Way Hancock, LeRoy Hancock.
