Mary Sibyl Hickerson

Mary Sibyl Casteel Hickerson of Collinwood, TN was born September 21, 1918 in Collinwood, TN, the daughter of the late Andrew and Maybelle Turman Casteel. She was united in marriage to Jesse Paul Hickerson on March 17, 1937 and he preceded her in death on February 10, 2001.

Mrs. Hickerson was a homemaker and a member of the Collinwood Church of Christ in Collinwood, Tennessee and departed this life on Monday, May 5, 2014 at Wayne County Nursing Home in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 95 Years, 7 Months, 14 Days.

She is survived by a daughter, Hilda Varnon and husband, Terry of Benton, AR; a step-granddaughter, Tarie Varnon Tallent; two step-great-grandchildren, Emmy and Gracie Tallent; sisters-in-law, Hazel Casteen and Reva Hickerson; nephews, Keith, Phillip and Eddie Casteel; niece, Barbara Ann Casteel Johnston.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hickerson was preceded in death by brothers, Marion Leon, Frank and Herman Casteel; sister, Ruth Gallaher.

Services will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Glen Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in McGlamery Cemetery, Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be Chris Casteel, Eddie Casteel, Phillip Casteel, Jason Quick, Kodi Arnett and James Q. McWilliams with Keith Casteel serving as honorary pallbearer.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 7, 2014 from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm and Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 11 am until service time at the funeral home.
