Mary Magdalene Hurst

Mary Magdalene Hurst was born July 17, 1945 in Henderson, TN the daughter of the late James Odell and Suzanne Smith Griswell.

She was united in marriage to Junior Hurst in December of 1980. Mr. Hurst preceded her in death on October 10, 2000.

Mrs. Hurst loved life and always had fun. She loved dancing and taught dance classes. In the words of her family, "if the dance hall was open she would be there."

She received her GED at the age of 50, her family was very proud of her accomplishment. She went to the Senior Citizens Center in Henderson and enjoyed going on trips with them. She was a member of the Woodville Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hurst loved her family dearly. She enjoyed playing cards especially high 9, a family card game. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Hurst departed this life on October 25, 2016 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 71 Years, 3 Months, 8 Days. She is survived by three sons, Tony Wayne Hurst of Henderson, TN, James William (Wiggles) Hurst and wife Dawn of Bethel Springs, TN, Johnny Wayne Hurst of Hornsby, TN; two grandchildren, William Lee Hurst of Jackson, TN, Derick Jeffery Hurst of Hornsby, TN; two great grandchildren, Hunter Lee Hurst, Lireal Hurst; two sisters, Lorene Puckett of Selmer, TN, Kathy Forsyth and husband Paul of Selmer, TN; a brother, Kenneth Joe Griswell and wife Becky of Selmer, TN; family friend, Lisa Reaves Hurst, and a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hurst was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Sue Hurst; daughter-in-law, Nancy Hurst; four brothers, Paul Sanders (Sambo) Griswell, Thomas Joe Griswell, James Leroy Griswell, Larry Ray (Rooster) Griswell.
