Mary Elizabeth King, age 79, departed this life on May 3, 2016. She was a devoted wife, and sister and will be remembered as a loving caring friend to many. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charley and Artie Ganus; two brothers, Bobby and Richard Neal Ganus. She is
survived by her husband, William Bart King and sister, Lois Litten of Charlotte, NC.
Mary and Bart met when living in the small West Tennessee towns of Selmer and Crump. The two married in 1956, moved to Nashville and in 1962 joined Brenthaven Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where they were active members. Mary became Session Clerk in 1979, and served with dedication and efficiency until 2015, 36 years of faithful service. She was a member of the Seekers Sunday School Class.
Mary worked as an Executive Secretary for I.C. Thomasson and Associates, Cummings Sign Company and Tennessee Credit Union during her long professional career. In addition, she was an active officer in the International Association of Administrative Professionals.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, May 4, 2016 at Brenthaven Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 516 Franklin Rd, Brentwood, Tennessee and a celebration of life will be conducted at the church on May 5, 2016 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Kip Rush, Rev. John Leggett and Rev. Dan Tabor officiating.
Visitation on May 6, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with service at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer with burial to follow at Lake Hill Memorial Gardens in Bethel Springs, TN.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials contributions be made to the building fund of the Brenthaven Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
