Mary Lou Battles Hardin

Mary Lou Battles Hardin went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 6, 2023 with family by her side. Mary was born in Wayne County, Tennessee on July 3, 1941, the daughter of the late Andrew (A.C.) Battles and Elva Blasingim Battles. On October 14, 1955, she was united in marriage to Hassell Hardin, the love of her life for 64 years.

Mary had an infectious laugh, the best sense of humor, and a strong love of life, her family, and God. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  She was deeply loved by her family and provided a safe haven of love, acceptance, and tender embraces. Mary was a member of Living Word Fellowship of Savannah. She was passionate in her faith, reading her bible and praying daily. She loved her church family, whether it was her home church or Fountain Avenue United Methodist Church in Paducah. 

Mary is survived by her daughter, Patricia Hardin Mathis (Richard) of Paducah, Kentucky; son, Ricky Lynn Hardin (Janet) of Atlanta, Georgia; two brothers, Billy Joe Battles (Ermerdean) and Jerry Battles (Shirley) both of Clifton, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Andrea Ray, Nicholas Hardin, Hailee Fauley, Christopher Hardin, Matthew Hardin, Chandler Hardin, Caleb Hardin, and Lindsey Hardin; eight great grandchildren, Dylan, Gracelyn, Jacob, Mya, Kensley, Lincoln, Johnny, and Benjamin; and one great-great grandchild, Van. Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Hassell Hardin on November 14, 2019 and her brother Ronald Battles on August 23, 2021.

Pallbearers will be Dylan, Nick, Matthew, Chris, Chandler, and Caleb.
