Finger, TN: Mary Pauline Sloan Oliver McNeil, age 87, passed away at her home Saturday, October 7, 2023.

She was born October 5, 1936, at Lavinia in Carroll County, the daughter of the late Guilford Penn and Nellie McMinn Sloan. She went to school at Malesus. She married Nelson Eugene Oliver, and they made their home at Deanburg and Memphis. He preceded her in death in an automobile accident in 1979. She married Larry McNeil in 1983. They made their home in the Hickory Corner Community. She worked at Park Belk at the mall in Jackson and Wal-Mart south in Jackson.

She enjoyed raising pigs, she loved to fish, she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading, and listening to books.     

Mrs. McNeil is survived by her husband Larry Wilford McNeil of Finger; a son, Tony McNeil (Connie) of Finger; two daughters, Pamela Carle (Paul) of Deanburg and Paula Dean Ivy (Bobby) of Deanburg; and  nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Bryant Oliver in 1992, a daughter, Paulette Sells; three sisters, Eunice Smith, Mildred Rushing and Mamie Taylor and a brother, Carl Sloan.  

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, October 10^th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Tony McNeil officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM service time Tuesday.
