Mary Loraine North

Mary Loraine North was born April 6, 1923 in McNairy County, TN the daughter of the late Pearl Columbus and Sarah (Sally) Elizabeth Littlejohn White.

She was united in marriage to Wilford Burnette North on February 25, 1940. Mr. North preceded her in death on October 11, 1976.

Mrs. North was a homemaker who loved caring for her family. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren, teaching them so many of the smaller life lessons they have carried into their adult lives. Mrs. North attended the Michie First Baptist Church.

Mrs. North departed this life on December 7, 2014 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 91 Years, 8 Months, 1 Day. She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Giesler of Pickwick Dam, TN and Helen Martin and husband Ray of Arlington, TX; three sons: Jimmy North of Michie, TN, Lindell North and fiancee Kym Stidham of Guys, TN, and Maurice North of Michie, TN; seven grandchildren: Kayce Howard and husband Chris, Kelli Harris and husband Jim, Krista Gibbs and husband Zach, Heather Pike and husband Steve, April McClurkan and husband Kevin, Johnnie Martin, and Ashley Martin; seven great-grandchildren: Taylor Howard, B. J. Howard, Caleb Pike, Makenah McClurkan, Karmen Harris, Brock Harris, and Tenley Harris; a brother, Tolbert White and wife Nettie Mae of Memphis, TN; and many more extended family and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. North was preceded in death by two brothers, Everette White and Roy White, and a sister, Myrtle Matlock.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Ryan Bartz, the staff of McNairy Regional Hospital, Legacy Hospice, and the staff and resident friends at McNairy County Health Care who cared for Mrs. North.
