Mary Pitts

Mary Louise Crowder Pitts, aged 95, was born on January 5, 1930, in Lauderdale County, Alabama, to the late Lavern William Crowder and Blanche Lucille Palmer Crowder. A beacon of love and warmth, Louise left an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone she met.

On May 6, 1947, Louise was united in marriage to her beloved James McGrady Pitts. Together, they shared a bond filled with joy and companionship, which beautifully shaped their lives. Mr. Pitts passed from this life on January 3, 2002.

Louise dedicated a significant part of her life to her work at Collinwood Manufacturing. Deeply involved in her community, she was a cherished member of the Noccalula Church of God in Gadsden, Alabama.

One of her many gifts was her ability to bring comfort to others through her cooking. Louise was renowned for her delicious fried apple pies, but her true joy came from making baby blankets and soft quilts for those in need. Her kindness and generosity radiated from her, as she devoted her time and talents to helping anyone who crossed her path.

Louise passed from this life peacefully on April 18, 2025 in Centre, AL.

As we remember Louise, let us celebrate a life filled with compassion, love, and a relentless spirit of giving. She will be deeply missed but always remembered with love.

Louise is survived by her children: James Pitts and wife Judy of Mountain View, AR, Michael Pitts and wife Denise of Gadsden, AL; sister, Ruby Lee Spears of Savannah, TN; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Louise was preceded in death by 3 sisters: Betty Ruth Eaton, Alice Marie Horton, and Wanda Kay Wilkerson; a brother, Charles W. Crowder.
