Mary Ouida Powell, age 82, of Bolivar, departed this life Thursday, April 28, 2016 at her home.
A native of Hickory Valley, she was born April 11, 1934 to George Reagan Pulliam, Sr. and Ouida Leola Partridge Pulliam and lived most of her life in Hardeman County. She was retired from Western Mental Health Institute and had most recently attended Parrans Chapel Baptist Church. She had an intense love of all animals, enjoying being around her dogs, cats and horses.
Survivors include 2 brothers, Tommy Pulliam of Bolivar and Boykin "Ike" Pulliam of Memphis; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; Holly Spain of Somerville, whom she considered a daughter; and Meagan Hall Brooke Spain and Carly Spain, whom she considered as granddaughters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Powell; a son, Jamie Powell; 2 brothers, Fred and George Pulliam, Jr.; and her special friend, whom she met over a mutual love of horses in 1998, Carl A. Gurkin, who died in 2011.
