Mrs. Pulliam passed away Friday morning, January 1, 2010 at Bolivar General Hospital.
The wife of Tommy Pulliam, who survives, she was a school teacher with the Hardeman County School system, having taught over 50 years. She was born April 12, 1923 in Bolivar, daughter of the late William Joseph Matthews and Lillian Long Matthews and lived most of her life here. She attended St. Katherines School and was a graduate of Bolivar Central High School and received her BA from Union University. She received her ME from Memphis State University and had over 45 hours attained at Memphis State toward her Doctorate. She had been a member of Bolivar First Baptist Church since age 11 and had taught Sunday School for forty years.
In addition to her husband, whom she married on November 12, 1946, survivors include two daughters, Diane Stewart of Bolivar and Debbie Naylor Collierville; three grandchildren, Tommy Stewart and his wife, Melissa of Milan, Heather Naylor and Jessica Childers and her husband, David, all of Collierville; and three great grandchildren, BreAnna Moran and Joseph Barr, both of Collierville and Connor McLain Stewart of Milan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Matthews and a grandchild, Jordan Austin Naylor.
