Mary Nell Reynolds

September 18, 1926 — October 30, 2005

Mrs. Mary Nell Johnson Reynolds was born on September 18, 1926, in McNairy County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Marley Andrew Johnson and Laura Mae Teague Johnson. She grew up in a close-knit community where faith, family, and hard work shaped the foundation of her life.

On her life’s journey, she was united in marriage to William Cletis Reynolds, who preceded her in death on May 23, 1995. Together they built a home centered on love, devotion, and steadfast commitment. Their years together were a testament to enduring love and partnership.

Mrs. Reynolds dedicated many years of her life to her work as a seamstress. With skilled hands and a patient heart, she created and mended garments that clothed her family and community. Her work reflected not only her talent but also her quiet diligence and pride in a job well done. She was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church, where her life of gentle service and steady faith was an example to those around her.

On October 30, 2005, Mrs. Reynolds departed this life in Selmer, Tennessee, at the age of 79 years, 1 month, and 12 days. Though her earthly journey came to a close, the legacy of love she leaves behind continues through the generations she cherished so deeply.

She is survived by her five daughters: Martha Nell Hardin of Selmer, Tennessee; Loretta Petty of Ramer, Tennessee; Andrea Griswell of Ramer, Tennessee; Debbie Jernigan of Selmer, Tennessee; and Sherry Poindexter of Ramer, Tennessee. She also leaves behind twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, each of whom was a treasured blessing in her life.

In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, Mrs. Reynolds was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Plunk, Marlene Mathis, and Gerlene Stanford; and three brothers, Preston Johnson, Estel Johnson, and George Johnson.

Mrs. Reynolds will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering love for her family, and the quiet strength that carried her through life’s seasons. Her memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were blessed to know her.
