MARY JANE CASON SIMMONS
Henderson, TN: Mary Jane Cason Simmons age 89 passed away February 25, 2019 at her home.
She was born March 16, 1929 in Chester County, the daughter of the George Keensee and Georgia Clayton Tatum Cason. She lived in Henderson and attended Chester County Schools, graduating from Chester County High School in 1947. She also attended Freed Hardeman College. She married Joe Earl Simmons in 1949.
Mrs. Simmons was a very caring and devoted wife and mother. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Henderson. She loved being with her family and friends.
She was survived by one son, Chris Simmons (Joy), and one daughter, Leigh Simmons Crouse (Randy) of Henderson; three grandchildren, Cason Simmons of Nashville, Adam Crouse (Mary) of Brownsville, TN and Mary Crouse Blumer (Adam) of Greenville, SC and one great grandson, Joseph Crouse.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jan Simmons in 1980, and by her husband, Joe Earl Simmons, in 1988; a brother, Joe Tatum Cason and a sister, Rebecca Cason Rowsey.
The family wishes to express special thanks to long term caregivers, Sue Harwell, Linda Matthews, as well as the other caregivers who have served so lovingly.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Graveside services will be 12:00 PM Friday, March 1, 2019 at Chester County Memory Gardens with Bro. Randy Cooper officiating.
The family will receive friends 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue.
