Mrs. Mary Frances Devers Smith departed this life on February 1, 2018 at Hendersonville Medical Center in Hendersonville, Tennessee at the age of 93 Years, 10 Months, 30 Days. She was born March 2, 1924 the daughter of the late Ward and Ikie Morgan Devers.
She was united in marriage to Cecil Smith on May 28, 1943. Mr. Smith preceded her in death on July 19, 2014.
Mrs. Frances had worked for TVEC but everyone remembers the many years she was a bookkeeper with Helton drugs. She loved her church, the Waynesboro First United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, UMYF leader and on numerous committees. She led and hosted a youth Bible study group in her home for years. Mrs. Frances was also a member of the Wayne Historical Society, Wayne County Home demonstration club and American Legion Auxiliary. She spent many hours doing genealogy research for her family and many other families.
She is survived by son, Joe Smith, wife Wanda, Hendersonville, TN., daughter, Carol Nichols, husband Steve, Gallatin, TN., grandchildren, Curtis Smith, Tina Neal, Tonya Carpenter, Tiffany McConnell, Whitney Sewell, Alyssa Nichols, great grandchildren, Morgan Jordan, Makenzie Neal, Faith Gambrell, Hope Gambrell, Jackson Sewell and Elliott Sewell.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by son, Gary Smith, grandson, Michael Smith, brother, Malcolm Devers.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral home in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Robert Hargrove officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 3,, 9:30 am until service time @ Shackelford Funeral home, Waynesboro
