Mary Frances Stroud departed this life on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at the age of 94 years, 7 months, 2 days. She was born in Hardin County, Tennessee in the Nixon Community on November 9, 1921, the daughter of the late Elmer and Susie Lutts Tucker. On December 24, 1944, she was united in marriage to Ewin Stroud, who survives.
Mrs. Mary Frances was a clerk for Gallaher Stores for ten years, owned Strouds' Store for sixteen years, the operator of Gallaher Motel and Store for eight years, and probably most memorably as the door greater at Wal-Mart for twenty-four years and was affectionately known as the "Sticker Lady'" to the children.
She was a fantastic cook and won many ribbons at the Hardin County Fair, loved her flowers, and had one of the greenest thumbs in Hardin County. Mrs. Mary Frances was a real people person. She loved to meet, greet and talk to people. She enjoyed making pies and sweets, and taking them to the girls and staff at her favorite local bank. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club and Wesley's Chapel United Methodist Church since 1939 and was a Sunday School Teacher.
Mrs. Mary Frances is survived by her husband of 71 years, Ewin Stroud of Savannah, Tennessee; son, Jimmy Stroud and his wife, Angie of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchild, Michelle Winborn; great-grandchildren, Ashton Winborn and Christian Winborn; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her brothers, Lois Tucker and Kenneth Tucker; sisters, Lucille Welch, Mildred Gallaher, and Virginia Rhea.
