MARY K. ‘KITTY’ WILLIS

Henderson, TN: Mary Katherine Scarbrough Willis age 88 passed away Monday morning February 16, 2015 at the Henderson Health &Rehabilitation Center.

She was born March 13, 1926 in Doyle, TN the daughter of the late Everette Hewlett and Hallie Lillian Johnson Scarbrough.

She graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School in Florida. She attended Troy State University and received a Master’s Degree at the University of Northwest Florida. She married James Darwin Willis in 1946. They lived in Maryland, Pensylvania, Ohio and Florida, before locating in Jackson. Mr. Willis did construction work and was a mathematician at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. Mrs. Willis was secretary/office manager at Eglin Air Force Base. They moved to Jackson in 2003 and had made her home at Chester County Healthcare since 2007. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Mrs. Willis is survived by three sons, James D. Willis, Jr. of Reston, VA, David Willis of Henderson and Darrell E. Willis of Tucumcari, New Mexico; two daughters, Mary E. Foster of Gainesville, GA and Kate Y. Faulk of Jackson, TN; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Darwin Willis in 2006, a daughter, Shelby Jean Willis and two brothers, William Scarbrough and Jack Scarbrough.

Memorial services will be 6:00 PM Thursday February 19, 2015 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Dr. Roy Sharp officiating with burial at Ridgecrest Cemetery in Jackson at a later time.

The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel beginning at 4:00 PM on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to multiple sclerosis, wounded warriors or St. Jude’s Hospital.
