Mary Elizabeth (Sue) Yates

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Sue) Yates, age 86 of Bolivar, Tennessee, departed this life Thursday afternoon, February 6, 2014 at Golden Swan Elderly Care in Smyrna, Tennessee.

Born April 26, 1927 in Decatur County to Lester and Mary Laura Pritchard Griggs, she was a homemaker. She married L. Wayne Yates February 4, 1945 who passed from this life on October 8, 2002. She was known for her pecan pies and loved to read and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She moved to Bolivar in 1959 and was a faithful member of the Bolivar Church of Christ.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Janie and Bob Yeager of Franklin, TN; 2 sons and daughters-in-law Johnny and Sherry Yates of Spring Hill, TN and Eddie and Carol Yates of Bolivar, TN; a sister, Margaret Turnbow of Jackson, TN; 6 grandchildren, Carrie Schlick and her husband Jason, Hunter Yeager, Kelley Rolfsen and her husband Tommy, Jenny Kolka and her husband Seth, Kate Yeager and Cooper Yates; and by 5 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Lavern Hendrix, Elsie Yates and Jo Park, and a brother Edward Griggs.
