Mattie Melissa Butler Middleton

Mattie Melissa Tilley Butler Middleton, Savannah, TN was born October 20, 1939 in Savannah, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Charity Lola Franks Tilley. She was united in marriage to Eugene Butler and he preceded her in death on May 24, 1972. She was later united in marriage to Johnny Ray Middleton.



Mrs. Middleton was retired from C-wood Lumber Company in Collinwood, TN and was a member of the Butler Grove Freewill Baptist Church, Iron City, Tennessee.



Mrs. Middleton departed this life on Friday, May 6, 2011 at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee at the age of 71 Years, 6 Months, 16 Days.



She is survived by her husband, Johnny Ray Middleton, Savannah, TN; son, Tommy Ray Butler, Collinwood, TN; granddaughters, Cassie Butler and Chelsie Butler, of Collinwood, TN, Amber Butler, Waynesboro, TN; brothers, McCassland Tilley, Savannah, TN, Thomas Tilley, Iron City, TN, Jimmy Tilley, Lawrenceburg, TN; sister, Jessie Reaves, Collinwood, TN; several nieces and nephews.



In addition to her parents and her first husband, Mrs. Middleton was preceded in death by daughter, Susie Tilley; brothers, William, James, Leamon, Robert Jr., Jerry, and Harris Tilley; sisters, Willie Gary, Lillian Tilley, Peggy Judkins, Martha Shults, Betty Wright, Estelle Tilley.



Services will be Monday, May 9, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Carmack Gobbell and Junior Daniel officiating. Burial will follow in Butler Grove Cemtery, Iron City, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Waynesboro, directing. Visitation will be Sunday, May 8, 2011 from 5 pm to 9 pm and Monday, May 9, 2011 from 9 am until service time at the funeral home.
