Mattie Neal Whitaker

Mattie Neal Whitaker was born October 28, 1918 in Ramer, TN the daughter of the late John Grover and Ethel Bell Shelton.She was united in marriage to Wilburn Whitaker on October 9, 1936. Mr. Whitaker preceded her in death on July 21, 1993.Mrs. Whitaker had attended both Lebanon United Methodist Church and Liberty Church of Christ. She was a seamstress and sewed for the public for many years. She also had been a caregiver to many families during her lifetime.Mrs. Whitaker departed this life on October 3, 2012 in Michie, Tennessee at the age of 93 Years, 11 Months, 5 Days.She is survived by two sons, Donald Whitaker of MIchie, TN and Kello Whitaker of Michie, TN; three grandchildren, Jason Whitaker, Jennifer Wilson and husband Bo, and Dakota Whitaker; five great grandchildren, Tyler Wilson, Destiny Wilson, Jacob Whitaker, Isaac Whitaker and Rylie Whitaker; two sisters, Metra King of Southaven, MS and Edith McClain of Holly Springs, MS; two brothers, Willie Shelton of Guys, TN and Grover Shelton of Norco, CA. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Whitaker was preceded in death by a daughter, Eva Clara Whitaker; two sons, Wilburn Oneal Whitaker and Norman Craig Whitaker; a sister, Johnnie Rushing; two brothers, Elmer C. Shelton and Clarence Shelton.
