Maude Melson was born September 1, 1912 in Wayne County, Tennessee. She lived there with her family until the age of 12. At that time her mother and children still living at home moved to the Sand Hill area of Hardin County, Tennessee.
She met and married another resident of that community, George Ingle, in March 1932. They had 3 children. The oldest, Jane Ollie, died soon after birth. George and Maude moved to Savannah sometime before 1941. Maude's mother, Mrs. Hannah Melson, lived with them until her death on February 18, 1960.
Maude was a member of Eureka Methodist Church. She sang in different quartets with other church members. She was a house wife and did sewing for ladies of the community. She also made the uniforms for the Eureka girls' basketball team in 1954.
When her husband George, passed in 1973, she began working outside the home. Mostly as a cook at different restaurants. She also changed her church membership to Southside Baptist. She sang in different quartets and the choir there for years.
She loved to sing, especially to yodel. She played the guitar and the harmonica. She also loved to dance. She made her square dancing dresses and shirts for her partner. She made her own patterns. She was a good cook and really liked desserts. She quilted and crocheted. She was always busy.
Her brother Earl, and sisters Mae, Merle and Carnie preceeded her in death. She leaves her daughter, Linda Taylor of Santa Clarita, California and son, William Ingle and wife Martha of Savannah, Tennessee. Four grandsons, Mike, Reese, Scott, and Jon Taylor of Santa Clarita, California. Two granddaughters, Denise Pipkins of Nixon, Tennessee and Gina Barnes of Savannah, Tennessee. Seven great grandsons, Justin Farris of Savannah, Tennessee, Nathaniel, Jeremy, Alec, Kian, Jake, and Zane Taylor all of Santa Clarita, California. One great great grandson, Jaxx Farris of Savannah, Tennessee.
