MAXINE BONG
Enville, TN: Maxine Elinor Hobson Bong age 87 passed away August 7, 2015 at the Henderson Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born April 14, 1928 in Mason City, IL and grew up in Pekin, IL the daughter of the late William Frank and Verla Marie Knollenberg Hobson. She graduated high school in Pekin and attended Illinois Central College. She married Robert Bong in 1948 and they made their home in Pekin. She was librarian at Pekin Public Library for twenty-five years and then worked as manager of Walden Book Store for eighteen years, after retirement she moved to Enville in 1990 and had worked as Postmaster relief at the Milledgeville Post Office. She was an avid reader and she enjoyed passing on her love of books to her children and grandchildren. She was Methodist in belief.
Mrs. Bong is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Harwell and husband David of Enville and a son, David Bong and wife Deborah of Pekin, IL; five grandchildren, Jason Bong, Robert Bong, Justin Harwell, Jared Harwell and Jessica Bethune and one great grandchild, Peyton Marie Bethune and also a brother, Kenneth Hobson of Metamora, IL and a sister, Ramona Hobson of Pekin, IL.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert Hobson, Donald Hobson, Roland Hobson and Franklin Hobson and a sister, Donna Jean Bledsoe.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday August 9, 2015 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Pastor Marcus Williams officiating and burial will be later in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, IL.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel beginning at 1:00 PM Sunday until service time at 3 PM Sunday.
