Mrs. Cardwell passed away Sunday morning, March 5, 2017, at ManorCare Rehabilitation Center in Marietta, GA.
The widow of Nelson Cardwell, who passed away on December 24, 1987 after 40 years of marriage, she was retired as a CPA, having worked for Schering-Plough and Shainberg's. She was born September 23, 1930 in Memphis, daughter of the late James Walter Brown and Geneva Louise McKinnie Brown and lived in Memphis and Collierville prior to moving to this area in 1994 to help care for her parents. She had lived in Marietta, Georgia for the past month. She enjoyed being outside and gardening, traveling, and being around her family. One of her favorite hobbies was painting, attending the Georgia O'Keefe School in New Mexico to study it more. Mrs. Cardwell was a member of Porters Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Janice Deyo (Robert) of Oklahoma City, OK; a son and his wife, Eric Cardwell (Becky) of Roswell, GA; four grandchildren, Katie Hutto, Kim Lentz, Daniel Cardwell and Chelsea Lentz; and 8 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Shirley Ruth Brown and Donna Jean Peeler. Memorial donations may be made to Porters Creek Baptist Church.
