Maxine Hinkle Robbins was born July 10, 1932, in Chester County, Tennessee, to the late Homer Hinkle and Estelle Diggs Hinkle. She attended Pinson School and lived most of her life in Pinson, Tennessee. At the age of 93, she departed this life on March 22, 2026, in Jackson, Tennessee surrounded by her family. Maxine was a faithful member of Pinson United Methodist Church. She married Gene Robbins on July 30, 1949. They were married for 58 years, until his passing in 2007.
Maxine was a devoted mother and homemaker. Affectionately known as “Granny” to, not only her grandchildren, but also to the many children she babysat and cared for as her own. She maintained her quick wit and sense of humor until the end. She left behind many memories filled with laughter, good food, strong faith, the love of nature, and the importance of family.
Other than her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Lous Hinkle and Travis Hinkle, her sister, Bonnie Aguilar, a daughter, Phyllis Robertson, a son-in-law, Leon Stockton, and a granddaughter, Amy Robertson Russell. She leaves behind her daughters, Connie Stockton and Kim England, a son-in-law, Cecil Robertson, her grandchildren, Vernon Stockton Jr. (Dana), Jason Robertson (Melissa), Matthew England (Christina), and Erin England (Jonathan Pounds), fifteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law that she fondly cherished.
A service to celebrate the life of Maxine Robbins will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in Henderson, Tennessee at Shackelford Funeral Directors (Casey Chapel) with Reverend Jimmy Dyer and Jason Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors (Casey Chapel) on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
I prayed for help; you answered my prayer. Dear Lord, now I can walk with you holding my hands. Amen.
