Melba C. Allen, 56 of Bolivar, passed from this life Wednesday evening, June 24, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital following a sudden illness.
A native of Florida, she was born December 6, 1963 to Buford “Bud” and Mary Nell Griswell Knight. At a young age they moved to Hardeman County where she lived most of her life, other than a few years in Madison County. She married Roger Dale Allen, who survives, was Baptist in belief and had attended Dixie Hills Baptist Church. She loved taking care of and playing with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by a daughter, Brandy Sides (Allen) of Selmer; two stepsons, Tim Harris (Candace) of Collierville and Chris Allen (Courtney) of Bolivar; two sisters, Brenda Dabbs (Mitch) of Texas and Peggy Turner (Kim) of Silerton; two brothers, Matt Knight (Dana) of Bolivar and Howard Knight of Arlington; and ten grandchildren, Madison and Noah Harris, Matthew, Luke, and soon to be born Natalie Sides, and Hunter, Averie, Kaylin, and Kiley Allen. She was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Weeks.
While visiting or attending services for Mrs. Allen, please consider the following guidelines:
* Maintain 6 feet between yourself and the next closest person;
* Refrain from hugs and handshakes;
* When you sneeze or cough, use your elbow to cover your nose and mouth;
* Wash your hands often;
* Avoid touching your face; and
* Minimize time spent in places where people gather.
