Melinda Ann White

August 14, 1970 — November 18, 2016

Melinda Ann Benson White was born in South Bend, Indiana on August 14, 1970, the daughter of Troy and Joyce Benson. On her birthday seventeen years later, she married the love of her life, Ray White. Together they had three children, Kelsey Rae, Haley LeAnne, and Peyton Douglas.

During her 46 years, Melinda left an undeniable imprint on every life she touched. Beginning with her work at Angelica Manufacturing and continuing in her sales and management positions at Burts Furniture, she went above and beyond what was asked of her in serving those with whom she came in contact. Her smile was always present and her laugh was always contagious, spreading her positive attitude to everyone. Melinda was completely selfless, a wonderful wife and mother whose world revolved around her faith and her family. A friend to all and a “work mama” to everyone at Burts, she would occasionally take time for herself, reading or indulging in the British dramas that she loved.

Her faith manifested itself in all that she did, including her 30 year membership at the Walnut Grove Church of Christ where she taught the ladies’ class as well as the four and five year olds and worked with the church treasury. She was also involved with CMTA.

Melinda Ann White left this life to begin her new one on Friday, November 18, 2016 at the age of 46 years, 3 months, and 4 days. In addition to her husband, children, and parents, she leaves to celebrate her life her sisters, Shelia May and her husband Bubba, and Jeannie Bonee and her husband, Donald; her brother, Jamie Benson and his wife, Kim; her sisters-in-law, Melba Austin, Stephanie McGowen and her husband Bryan, and April Bales and her husband, Mark, her brother-in-law, Ricky White and his wife, Kristie, her father, Troy Benson, her mother, Joyce Benson, and her grandmother, Iva Morris, all of Savannah.

She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Barbara White, her father-in-law, Douglas White, her grandfathers, Roy Morris and Bedford Benson, and her grandmother, Ruth Benson.
