September 24, 1964 — June 18, 2025

Hornsby, TN

Michael Dewayne "Pnut" Hodge, a cherished resident of Oakland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025, at the age of 60. Born on September 24, 1964, in Jackson, Tennessee, Michael's life was a tapestry of dedication, love, and lasting memories that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.

For 18 years, Michael devoted himself to Tennessee Forestry, where his diligent work ethic and commitment to serving his community stood out. Prior to his time with the forestry department, he worked at DeBerry Farms, Harmon Automotive, and engaged in maintenance jobs with the Board of Education and also worked at Bolivar Sand. His career was a reflection of his values—integrity, hard work, and a spirit of cooperation.

Michael was much more than just his profession; he was a man of many interests and a passion for life. He found joy in the simple pleasures of walking and turkey hunting, activities that reflected his appreciation for nature. He treasured every moment spent at the car wash, where he embraced camaraderie and laughter with both coworkers and friends alike.

His greatest pride and joy, however, were his family and especially his grandchildren—Gabin, Jackson, Eli, and Gabbie Grace—who brought immense happiness to his life. Their laughter and love filled his days, and he was always eager to create memories with them, whether through playful adventures or simply sharing stories.

Michael was also a devoted member of Hickory Withe Baptist Church, taking a significant step in his faith by being baptized on June 23, 2024. His spiritual journey underscored his commitment to his beliefs and community.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Ariel Gilchrist and Trip of Whiteville; his son, Andy Hodge and Tabitha of Middleton; his brother, Lynn Hodge and Lisa of Hornsby; and his cherished nephews, Justin Hodge and Taylor, Jonathan Hodge and Nicole. The bonds of family meant everything to Michael, and he took pride in supporting and nurturing the relationships that flourished around him.

Michael joins his father, Freddie Eli Hodge, and his mother, Helen Faye May Hodge, whose spirits will embrace him with love and warmth.

A visitation to honor Michael's memory will be held on June 26, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Bolivar. Following the visitation, a memorial service will commence at 6:30 PM, allowing friends and family to come together and celebrate the remarkable life he led.
