Michael Wayne Lawson, 58, died May 1, 2011, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
A native of Corinth, MS, Mr. Lawson was born February 7, 1953 to the late Brodie and Mary Rhodes Lawson. Mr. Lawson served in the US Army in Vietnam from 1970-1972. He retired after 26 years of law enforcement serving with the Corinth Police Department, Middleton Police Department, as the Hardeman County Youth Services Officer, and as former Chief Deputy for the Hardeman County Sheriff's Department. He also served as an EMT and EMA director, was a member of the Tennessee Sheriff's Association and West Tennessee Drug Task Force and was a former Hardeman County Commissioner. He was co-owner of 1st Choice Bail Bonding, a licensed pilot and he loved to cook. Mr. Lawson was a member of Middleburg Baptist Church. His family states that "he was a loving father, grandfather, and brother, was open hearted and a friend to all."
Mr. Lawson is survived by a daughter Sherlyn Whitney Nichols of Middleton; three sons, Michael Chad Lawson of Middleton, Scott Brodie Lawson of Laredo, TX and Michael Brandon Knepp of Rockwall, TX; a brother, Jerry Lawson of Middleton; three grandsons Michael Alexander Lawson, Robert Martin and Michael Scott Knepp; many nieces and nephews; and his fiancé, Susie Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John David and James Leslie Lawson.
